I've always wanted to start a blog, and finally, the moment is here! Can't wait to join the blogger community--I have so enjoyed reading running blogs since November, and now I am going to share my running journey. Hopefully it will help others in the same boat as me....old, tired, getting in shape, and injury-prone.
Am I the first blogger on your blog?! GO LOLO!
ReplyDeleteSo, what is our first adventure? Is there anything we need to do before 40? Hurry, my time is running out!
ReplyDeleteWe are going to run a marathon, but by my 40th, which is August 11, 2013. Your 40th is Dec. 21, 2012, and that is waayyy too soon to run a marathon.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blogging community! I still consider myself a newbie, but I've had another blog (besides this new running adventure) for about 6 months and boy has it ever been lifechanging! It's amazing the encouragement and inspiration that you can gain from people who you don't even know. Let me know if I can help in that way. I'm a beginner runner with a dream to do run a marathon also. Having two toddlers at home makes that a bit more difficult but I know that as women, we can do just about anything we set our minds to!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I will take you up on your offer--I have lots of questions about blogs and running! We are going to run that marathon one day! Mortgages, children, husbands, parenting, and all the joy and stress it brings will help us get there!
DeleteOK LOLO, 26.2 miles is a long way. I've decided to change my mindset if I'm going to run long distances: I don't have to run the entire race. I may have to alternate run/walk (dang, it hurt to say that out loud) and I don't have to break any records or beat anyone (ouch, that hurt too). And the big kicker...I can quit running if my body tells me too. It has to be me vs. me.
ReplyDeleteYes it is! To put it in perspective: it would be like running from my driveway to the Armory AND BACK!!! AAAhhhh!!! I know I'm not up for it yet, but I will be. Check out Jeff Galloway's site about injury free running. It has saved my (running) life!!!! But the run/walk/run method is the way to go. I'm not competitive except against me--I'm certainly not going to beat anyone running, but if I can make my time better--that's all that counts!
ReplyDeleteOK - headed to injury free running now...
ReplyDeleteJeff Galloway is my new best friend. I hate the "I'm going to throw-up and die" feeling at the end of a run. I didn't have that today and I did 3+ miles. I don't remember the last time I ran 3 miles! I think I can go farther than ever with Jeff in my pocket (on my ipod)!
ReplyDeleteNow, if i can yoga my way through the day after the run "ooohh my aching back" then I'll really be happy! Thanks for your inspirational blog!
This is only my 2nd run in my new shoes. I'll keep you posted on how my feet are feeling.
Feet feel good (still can't believe I'm running in Skechers), back is good after the morning stretch, a little worried about the knees - time will tell...
ReplyDeleteToday is Xtrain day - I hope cleaning counts!
decided to add warm-up cool-down to the run:

I tried to find a yoga one but these poses are the same as many yoga poses - I would do downward dogs and sun salutation instead of the wall stretches. :)
yogamazing podcasts on itunes are my favorites!
